What influence does the range hood have on the ventilation system?
Recirculating range hoods don’t affect the ventilation system, because they are pressure independent. They ensure a certain filtering of the air and can also remove odours depending on the equipment.
Exhaust range hoods without supply air device lead to high negative pressure in modern air-tight buildings. Ventilation systems with constant volume flow regulation will try to deliver the preset amount of air despite the negative pressure and therefore will become very loud. Systems with constant volume flow regulation will deliver hardly any air while the range hood is running. However, in none of these cases problems are to be expected.
Please keep in mind that exhaust range hoods in connection with indoor air dependent fireplaces are particularly critical. Sometimes the chimney sweep accepts a so-called window contact switch, which ensures that the range can only be operated when the window is open, as a solution.
