Sole geothermal heat exchanger

In hot summer, everyone enjoys a cool house. But how can undesirable overheating be avoided? Of course, first of all due to good heat insulation and shading of buildings to prevent the heat from entering the house in the first place.

However, the ventilation system can also contribute to preventing the house from overheating.

Sole geothermal heat exchanger

In contrast to the air, the temperatures of the ground are relatively steady in summer and in winter. In summer, it is considerably cooler than the outside air and can therefore provide us with cooling energy, in winter it is considerably warmer and can be used to preheat the air. With the SWT180 brine geothermal heat exchanger, we make use of precisely this phenomenon in the following way:

A 100-metre PE line (plastic piping as used for drinking water, for example) is installed at a depth of 1.5 metres around the house or in a trench in the garden. Through this piping flows a fluid (brine) which cannot freeze and can absorb and release heat very well. The brine line is laid in the cellar or in the room in which the ventilation system is also installed. The brine line is connected there to the brine geothermal heat exchanger which is a compact and completely pre-installed device in which the heat from the ground is transferred to the supply air (winter mode = heating case) or the heat from the warm exhaust air is transferred to the brine (summer mode = cooling case) by means of a heat exchanger.

Therefore, the ventilation unit can also be continuously operated at frosty outside temperatures in winter without having to switch to frost protection mode or having to electrically pre-heat the outside air.

In summer, you are provided with overheating protection for the house, the cooling effect must, however, not be confused with an air-conditioning system which actively cools and thus consumes a great deal of power. But the ventilation system still supplies fresh air which is considerably cooler than the outside air and at the same time constantly exhausts warm indoor air. Accept the energy as a gift from the ground and use it by means of the brine geothermal heat exchanger. The power consumption is minimal. It is limited to that of a small pump used to circulate the brine in the line.
